The Humane Society of Hampshire County is a
non-profit organization whose mission is to relieve
and prevent animal suffering and abuse by:
Providing a humane, temporary shelter for stray
and unwanted companion animals.
Carrying forward a continuous program of
fundamental, widespread humane education
promoting responsible pet ownership.
Reducing the overbreeding of dogs and cats
through education and sterilization programs.
Working to create a community with humane
and caring attitudes towards both
domestic animals and wildlife.

We are the only shelter in the community which
accepts both stray and unwanted cats and dogs.
We receive no government funding and rely
entirely on memberships, donations,
fund raising, and grant monies.
Home
We are a non-profit, 501(c)(3) dog rescue
located in Berkeley County. We rescue
abandoned and abused dogs one at a time,
take them to our vet for the necessary
vac-cinations and tests, including
heartworm and lyme disease. If they are
injured or ill, we do whatever it takes to
bring them back to good health. We rescue
all ages and breeds and work from our
homes. We also have an Orphan Puppy
service where we take litters of abandoned
puppies and handfeed them until they are
old enough to be adopted out.
